A frail 82-year-old man was left seriously injured after a gang brutally attacked him and robbed his home.
Three men reportedly knocked on the elderly victim’s door and walked into his house, before kicking and punching him. As they beat him up, they demanded he hand over his money.
One attacker pinned him down to the ground while the others searched his home, Derbyshire Police said.
They made off with a cream and yellow round-faced Longines gold men’s watch, a white-faced silver Omega men’s watch, and two gold men’s rings.
The gang also took a gold sovereign ring, a gold chain, and some cash.
Graphic photographs show the horrific injuries the victim suffered, which included a bloodied nose, bruised eyes, cuts to his face and neck, and cuts to his hands.
He was attacked at around 6.30pm on Saturday at his home on Sheffield Road in Creswell, Derbyshire.
The victim described the man who held him down as white, 6ft tall, slim and in his 20s. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, and a cream or white bandana covering the bottom half of his face.
The other men were white, in their 20s, stocky and shorter than the first man.
Investigating officer DC Mark Woodcock said: ‘This was a nasty, unprovoked attack on a man in his own home. I want to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area at the time.’
