Shkodran Mustafi reveals what Unai Emery told him in showdown talks over Arsenal future
The Germany international was scapegoated for his role in Arsenals failure to secure Champions League qualification last season after a comically inept performance against Crystal Palace, during which he was at fault for all three goals in a damaging 3-2 defeat.
Mustafi made his first appearance of the season during last nights convincing 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, as a makeshift back four helped record a rare clean sheet away from home.
The summer arrival of David Luiz has contributed to Mustafi falling further down Emerys pecking order, but the World Cup winner insists he remains committed to the Arsenal cause, even if his current predicament is far from ideal.
Mustafi said: My dad talked to the club. I am a player of Arsenal and have another two years of contract.
I was never the one who starts a war when something does not work out.
If something turns out, Im open to taking the next step. If not, then I will continue my football.
The coach told me that he sees me the same way as any player in the team. Thats why I played today.
